Each year, the American Library Association (ALA) sponsors National Library Week in April. In celebration of this year’s National Library Week, April 14 – 20, the Villa Park Public Library has planned the following activities:

Canning and Preserving
Monday, April 15 • 7:00 p.m.
Kate Bradley, master gardener AND master chef, will tell you, step by step, how to can (or otherwise preserve) those wonderful veggies and fruits of summer.
Jane Austen Speaks
Wednesday, April 17 • 7:00 p.m.
In this 100th anniversary year of Pride and Prejudice, author Jane Austen (played by Debra Ann Miller) has agreed to visit our Library and discuss her life as a literary woman.
Book Discussion: Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde
Thursday, April 18 • 7:30 p.m.
Also in conjunction with National Library Week, the Library is invites you to “Pay It Forward” within your community. During National Library Week, food donations will be accepted to pay for fines. For every $1.00 worth of accrued fines, the Library will be accepting one non-perishable food item or paper or soap product as payment. Donations will be accepted for the entire month of April, however, can only be used to pay for fines during National Library Week.
