The renowned Australian wildlife expert and conservationist is honored, along with his vision for natural preservation, every November 15. After his untimely death, Steve’s wife said that his “real, true love was conservation”. The date of November 15th was chosen because it is the birthday of his favorite animal, a tortoise named Harriet who lived on the Galápagos Islands.
