Public Services Assistant in Youth Services

Hours/week: 12 hours / week
Salary: $11.50 / hour, depending on qualifications
Description:

The Villa Park Public Library seeks a versatile, service-oriented person to become our new Public Services Assistant in Youth Services. We are looking for someone who is energetic, organized, and excited about working with youth.

The job includes assisting with programs for young children and families, and working at our Information Desk. Typical desk duties include answering reference questions and providing computer support and/or troubleshooting.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous work experience with children and families.

This position averages 12 hours a week. The position requires the following shifts every week: Thursdays, 8:45 am-2:00 pm; and Fridays 1:00-5:00 pm. There is also one shift every fourth week on Saturdays, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and one shift every fourth week on Sundays, 1:00-5:00 pm. There are no Sunday shifts between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Public Services Librarian

Hours/week: 19.68 hours a week
Salary: $16.50/ hour, depending on qualifications
Description:

The Villa Park Public Library seeks a versatile, service-oriented person to become our new Public Services Librarian. We are looking for someone who is energetic, organized, and excited about working with patrons of all ages. Strong technology skills are a must, as is the ability to provide assistance both one-on-one and through classroom instruction.

The job includes planning and conducting programs for young children and families, and working at our Information Desks. Typical desk duties are answering reference questions and providing computer support/troubleshooting.

Applicants must have, or be working towards, a Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited college or university. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in technology or education. Those have previous work experience with children and families are also strongly encouraged to apply.

This position averages 19.68 hours a week and requires the following shifts every week: every other Monday, 4:30-9 pm; Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:00-9:00 pm; and Fridays, 12:30-5:00 pm. There is also one shift every fourth week on Saturdays, 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and one shift every fourth week on Sundays, 1:00-5:00 pm. There are no Sunday shifts between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
