Library materials are available to patrons in a contact-free Library Locker service. The library is taking every precaution to ensure that this service is provided in a way that is safe for patrons as well as library staff. Please note: This is a pickup service only – all materials must be put on hold prior to pickup.
Library Locker Service will be available beginning Wednesday, May 20, 2020. In addition to Library Locker pickup of materials, Reader’s Advisory, Technology Help, and Research Services are available via phone, email, or chat through our website, during the hours listed below:
Library Locker Pick-up Service Hours – (Note: Library Lockers are only accessible during the times listed below):
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 10:00 am – 5:30 pm
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Saturdays from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Sundays – Closed for the summer
Patrons may place holds by logging into their SWAN library card account via the library catalog, calling the library at (630) 834-1164 during our Library Locker Pick-up Hours (see below), or email our staff at email@example.com with the title and author of the items you would like to place on hold for Library Locker pick-up.
Villa Park Public Library cardholders need to be aware that holds can only be placed on items that the Villa Park Public Library owns. There will be no RAILS delivery from other libraries until further notice.
When your items are ready to be picked up, library staff will contact you with information on Library Locker pickup for your items. If you have any questions, please call for information or instructions.
How does Library Locker Pickup work?
Place holds on books, CDs, DVDs, and other items using the online catalog. Staff will contact you when materials are ready to pick-up.
You can also call or email the library to request items. Library staff will fill your request and call or email you when your items are ready for you to pick up.
When you arrive to pick-up your items, park in the parking lot and text the library at 630-822-9020. You can also call the library at (630) 834-1164 when you arrive. Staff will unlock the locker assigned to you. You can then enter the vestibule to pick-up your items. Lockers are located in the vestibule of the main entrance of the library.
What measures are you taking to ensure the safety of community members and library staff?
Library staff wear masks and gloves when handling library materials, and are adhering to the strictest guidelines from the CDC. All materials are quarantined for one week prior to circulating, following best practices around sanitizing surfaces. All materials for Lobby Locker pick-up will be placed in a bag with date and time last handled.
Can I return my items to the library?
Yes, please return items in the library book drop. The book drop will be emptied daily by staff wearing masks and gloves, items inside are quarantined for one week before being returned to circulation. Items will remain on patron library accounts while in quarantine. Items will automatically renew and no fines will be charged during this process.
I’m not a Villa Park resident. Can I place holds and use this service?
At this time, Library Locker Pick-up service is only available to Villa Park Public Library cardholders who have a physical library card. Please watch our website and social media for updates on changes to this service.
