Angie Thomas’s The Hate U Give is in the spotlight again with the release of the motion picture adaptation on October 6th, starring Amandla Stenberg as Starr Carter. The award-winning book is about Starr as she witnesses the police shooting of her childhood friend, Khalil, a sixteen-year-old African American boy, and how this leads her to take part in the Black Lives Matter movement.
