Sat., Oct. 10 • 12:00–4:00 p.m.  Are you Jedi or Sith? Decide at Star Wars Reads Day! Craft a lightsaber, make Jedi or Sith robes, paint a Huttese rock, eat some snacks, take a picture falling into the Sarlacc pit and more! If you already have a Star Wars costume, wear it and show your support. Beware—some shadowy characters may board the library looking for rebel spies…

The TRW Kick-off Party is on Mon., Oct. 19 at 4:00–5:30 p.m. Come to the library for a scavenger hunt and more. Pizza will be provided, sponsored by our local partner, Dominick’s Pizza & Pasta.

Teen Book to Movie Night, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (© 2008 Columbia Pictures Industries Inc., PG-13, 90 min.), is on Tue., Oct. 20 at 6:30–8:00 p.m. Snacks will be provided by Whole Foods Market Elmhurst.

DIY Frankentoys is on Wed., Oct. 21 at 4:00–5:00 p.m. Tinker with random objects in order to create your very own “Frankentoy” and create a FrankenZine to document the day!

 Get Away @ Your Library is on Thu., Oct. 22 at 3:30–4:30 p.m. At Session 1: Writing Workshop, create a new world and write a story that takes place there. Keep working on your story and finish it at Session 2: Open Mic, on Friday, Oct. 23, 3:30–4:30 p.m. Those who read aloud will be entered into a drawing for a $20 gift card to Barnes & Noble!

Poetry Workshop

2015-09-14-Poetry Workshop-450x250Mon., Sep. 28 • 6:30–8:30 p.m.  In this free workshop led by Friends member Ida Kotyuk, participants will each select one or two preexisting poems that they have authored. Bring ten copies of each poem to share with others. Each poet will read the poem aloud and we will then discuss the poem. Everyone is expected to participate. This session is for poets of all levels who are looking for peer review and suggestions. Registration is required.
