July 8, 2019 Building Project Update!

July 8, 2019 Update

This week marks the one year anniversary of the start of construction on the library building.  The first phase included new connections to water and sewer, new storm drains, new parking lot,  three new rooftop HVAC units, new bathrooms, lighting, and the new elevator near the new entrance and stairway.

This past April, staff and patrons moved into the new addition so work on renovating the existing building could begin.  The second phase is well underway with Wight Construction removing the old roof, boilers, and air handlers, and installing the new roof, storm drains, seven additional rooftop units, and windows.  This past month, the new study rooms, youth program room, and quiet reading room are taking shape.

We had hoped to have more landscaping completed this past spring but a very wet May blocked progress on that front.  However, plantings are now slated for later this summer/early fall.

As construction winds down this August and September, we will be gearing up for moving our collections into their new locations. Be sure to check for updates on our web site as summer progresses.

To mark the completion of the project, the Library Board will be hosting a Grand Re-Opening Celebration to be held on Saturday, October 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  This date has special significance with the original 1969 building being dedicated on that same date fifty years ago.  Be sure to join us on this fun-filled day.
