In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, the Villa Park Public Library will feature an Austen related film festival and a program featuring the distinguished author.
For the film series, doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the movies beginning promptly at 6:45 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The first movie in the series will be held Wednesday, January 30 and is a 2005 film, featuring Keira Knightley, which retells the story of a classic Austen novel.
The second movie will be held Wednesday, February 20 and is a Bollywood update on a classic Austen tale.
The final movie of the series will be held Wednesday, March 20 and is a story that transports the viewer back to 1795 into the life of a young Jane Austen and features Anne Hathaway as Jane.
On April 17, Jane Austen Speaks will be held at 7:00 p.m. Debra Ann Miller will take on the persona of Austen and discuss her life as a literary woman. Registration is required for this program.
In addition, the library collection is host to numerous works by and about Austen including books, CD audiobooks and DVDs.
