The Library’s elevator will be under construction starting Thursday, December 5. This three-four week project will include the complete modernization of the existing 2 stop hydraulic elevator, machine room, hoistway, pit, landings and shaft. Additional Free Yard Waste Pickup Day
The Village of Villa Park has negotiated an additional day for free yard waste pickup for our residents with our garbage collection service Roy Strom. Residents who have normal garbage pickup on Mondays and Tuesdays will have their yard waste picked up on Thursday, December 5th. Residents who have normal garbage pickup on Wednesday through Friday will have their yard waste picked up on Friday, December 6th. Yard waste stickers are not required for this special pickup and this will be the last opportunity to have your yard waste picked up until April 1st, 2014.

Here is a list of organizations currently accepting monetary donations to assist recent tornado victims
• To donate to the Salvation Army, call (800) 725-2769, go online at www.saheartland.org, or mail to: The Salvation Army-Disaster Relief, 401 NE Adams St., Peoria, IL 61603. Make checks payable to “The Salvation Army” and clearly marked “November Tornado Relief.” Residents also can also text the word “GIVEHEART” to 80888 to make a $10 donation through your mobile phone; to confirm your gift, respond with the word “Yes.”
• To donate to the American Red Cross, call (800) 733-2767 or visit redcross.org to make a donation. Tell them the donation is to go to the central Illinois tornado response.
• Morton Chamber of Commerce is collecting funds for the American Red Cross online through http://www.crowdrise.com/TornadoReliefCI for all three communities.
• The Heart of Illinois United Way has established a Tornado Relief Fund.
“We are accepting donations through the Tornado Relief Fund at the request of many of our donors and corporate partners who are seeking an efficient and accountable way to assist with the relief effort,” Michael Stephan, President of the Heart of Illinois United Way, said in a press release.

Jackie Kennedy Speaks
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of President Kennedy, the Villa Park Public Library will host a program by well-known historical interpreter Leslie Goddard on Monday, November 18, 2013, at 7:00 pm. Ms. Goddard will become Jackie Kennedy and discuss the events and activities of her life.

Have you ever wished you could revisit your high school years and find closure to old relationships…renew an old flame…take revenge on those who slighted you? The graduating class of 1983 is returning to Villa Park High, home of the Minions, for their 30th class reunion and everyone is looking forward to seeing their old classmates with great anticipation. As they renew old friendships, bodies begin to drop. Discovering who the killer is becomes the question all are determined to answer. The play is written by Joh Mann and will be held at the Library Annex on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Library for a price of $12. If you buy tickets at the door on the night of the show you’ll pay $15 (if we haven’t already sold out).
