Freedom Walkers: the story of the Montgomery bus boycott by Russell Freedman is a must read for anyone interested in our country’s struggle for civil rights.  This amazing book tells the story of the brave citizens of Montgomery, Alabama and the 381-day resistance to segregated buses that spearheaded the civil rights movement. There are many beautiful photos which clearly depict this time in our nation’s history. This book is truly the story of all the local heroes of the civl rights movement in Montgomery. It is the story of the everyday citizens of Montgomery who worked and sacrificed together to make this boycott successful and put an end to segregated buses in Montgomery.
